At least 13 people were killed when gunmen opened fire on vehicles driving on a highway in eastern Afghanistan around midnight Tuesday, authorities said. The incident happened in Afghanistan’s Wardak province, where Taliban fighters frequently attack security forces, but no group immediately claimed responsibility. The gunmen attacked three vehicles, including a bus traveling from Kabul, said Attahullah Khogyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor. The incident is the latest in a string of recent attacks targeting buses across the country.
