18 Arrested at Candidates’ Iowa Offices

Police arrested 10 protesters outside of Michele Bachmann’s office on Saturday, and another eight were arrested outside of the offices of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich. Police had been waiting outside of Bachmann’s office and told protesters to stay on public land, but they were ignored. Two teenagers were among those arrested outside of Bachmann’s office, which witnesses called a chaotic scene. Bachmann herself dubbed the protesters “Obama’s reelection advance team.” One member of Occupy Des Moines said, “We went to the doors to express our concerns, and instead they’d rather have us arrested.”
