A coal mine explosion in western Turkey on Tuesday has left at least 274 people dead so far, making it the country's worst ever mining disaster. According to the country’s energy minister, 787 people were inside the mine at Soma in Manisa province when the blast took place. The minister believes it was the result of an electrical problem. Only 360 people, including the dead, have been accounted for. While rescuers have been working through the night, hopes for more survivors are fading fast. Turkey has declared three days of national mourning for the victims of the disaster.
