A massive collision on a mountainous, foggy Virginia road on Sunday afternoon resulted in at least three deaths and 20 injuries. The pileup, which involved 95 vehicles, occured on a stretch of Interstate 77 in southwest Virginia near North Carolina, where visibility was poor. Traffic was backed up for more than eight miles in the southbound lane while the northbound lane was closed for emergency vehicles. The seriousness of the injuries and the duration of the road closure weren’t immediately known.
