At least three people have been killed amid protests and looting in Venezuela, a congresswoman told reporters Wednesday. The protests began Sunday in the northeastern part of the country, with demonstrators protesting major food shortages. Opposition congresswoman Milagros Paz said two people were shot in the protests and another suffered a heart attack when his store was looted. The governor of Sucre, where angry residents took to the streets, has denied the deaths were related to the protests. He said 400 people have been detained amid the unrest.
