The GOP has got cash to burn. Three major Republican candidates have collectively shelled out $234 million of their personal fortunes to help fund their campaigns—but it's not looking so helpful. According to the most recent polls, Meg Whitman of California and Linda McMahon of Connecticut are actually behind in their campaign race. McMahon, well-known for her role as the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, is running for Senate, but fighting against low voter turn-out in Connecticut. She has spent $41.5 million of her own money on her campaign. Whitman is the former CEO of eBay and spent a record $141.6 million on her race against Governor Jerry Brown. The rest of the enormous $234 million sum is from GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott, who has shelled out approximately $60 million. He’s currently running neck-and-neck with Democrat Alex Sink.
