Residents of Mosul say up to 30 civilians were killed earlier this week in air strikes on a house believed to be housing Islamic State militants, Reuters reported Saturday. Locals said they witnessed at least three missiles strike the house where senior militant Harbi Abdel Qader lived with his family. But the militant leader was not home at the time, they said, and several members of his family were killed instead. While most of the east of the city has been recaptured from the terrorist group, areas in the west are still under their control, leaving civilians caught in the crossfire of ongoing battles. Residents said they weren’t sure who launched the air strikes that allegedly killed dozens of civilians, and their account of events has not yet been independently verified.
