Thirty to forty thousand New York City residents may require housing for some period after the monster storm ravaged the East Coast, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The city’s mayor said that the number of people in need of housing “may have been similar in Katrina.” A number of large housing developments in the city will be “out of commission for a very long time,” Bloomberg said. About 730,000 people remained without power in the region on Sunday.
