At least 44 people were killed and 67 others injured after two separate bombs exploded at a mosque and an upscale restaurant in central Nigeria, officials said Monday. The first detonated Sunday at the crowded Yantaya mosque during festivities honoring the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in the city of Jos. Another bomb exploded at a restaurant frequented by state governors and other politicians. Sunday’s blasts are the latest in a violent string of attacks in the region blamed on the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram, leaving more than 200 people dead in just the past week.
