Five Yemeni detainees were released from the U.S. prison camp in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, on Wednesday, in the latest effort to close the detention center at the naval base. Four detainees were sent to Oman and one to Estonia, the first time either country has agreed to accept former prisoners. The five men were captured in Pakistan and had been cleared for transfer for years, but U.S. officials feared if they returned to Yemen they would be recruited to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the Miami Herald reports. There are 122 prisoners left in Guantánamo.
