Ten people were killed and 55 others wounded by gunfire in Chicago over the holiday weekend. Thirty of the incidents occurred during an eight-hour overnight stretch on July 4. A 7-year-old boy is among the dead, after a bullet reportedly meant for his father struck him instead. While the city has already experienced 1,000 shootings this year, Fourth of July weekend last year was far more bloody, with 82 people shot, five of them by police.
