A total of eight men were convicted on Saturday in Egypt of “inciting debauchery” after they were caught appearing in a same-sex wedding party on a Nile boat. A video on the Internet showed two men exchanging rings at the party. The men each received three years in prison. As homosexuality is still a social taboo in Egypt, while appearing in court the eight all covered their heads in their hands or hid under baseball caps.
