Lam Wing Kee, a dissident bookseller in Hong Kong who disappeared along with five others last year, staged a massive protest on Saturday to force authorities to answer for his abduction. Earlier this week, he said a confession to "illegal trading" he made on state television was coerced after he was abducted by special forces. He was seized in the city of Shenzen in October 2015 and only resurfaced last week. Lam is well-known for selling books that are highly critical of the authorities. The Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry has denied involvement in the abduction of the five booksellers.
