Republican sugar daddy Sheldon Adelson is nearing the $71 million mark for his many contributions to conservative super PACs during this election season. The casino magnate who was, at one point, basically bankrolling Newt Gingrich's campaign, and his wife have already donated $36 million. They're expected to add $35 million more to that loot, writing checks to Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS, another nonprofit associated with House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, and a third tied to the Koch brothers. Adelson, who's key issues include a passion for Israel and a passionate opposition to unions, has told friends that his overall contribution to conservative candidates this year could reach $100 million.
