Two detainees being held at the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have been transferred back to the government of their native Algeria. The release of Hasan Zemiri and Adil Hadi al Jazairi bin Hamlili leaves 196 men left in the prison, which President Obama had previously pledged to close by tomorrow. Political and diplomatic difficulties have gotten in the way of the ultimate goal of shutting down the prison, and concerns about the stability of Yemen have prevented any prisoners from being transferred to that country, but the administration remains committed to its original goal.
