Hackers have reportedly begun targeting the ever-expanding universe of third-party sellers on Amazon—they’ve been stealing passwords and email credentials, then selling them on the “dark web.” The Wall Street Journal reports attackers have, in recent weeks, posted nonexistent merchandise for sale at steep discounts on the accounts of active sellers, then changing bank-deposit information and pocketed the cash. “Hacking Amazon is becoming… increasingly a big deal,” said Juozas Kaziukėnas, chief executive of Marketplace Pulse. “The value to be gained is bigger as Amazon grows.” An Amazon spokesman said the company “is constantly innovating on behalf of customers and sellers to ensure their information is secure and that they can buy and sell with confidence.”
