Israeli archeologists may have found the oldest human remains yet discovered. A Tel Aviv University team found teeth in a cave in central Israel that they say are 400,000 years old, twice as old as the oldest human remains found until now. If the teeth are indeed Homo sapiens, the discovery would cause a rewrite of the current understanding of human evolution, which has Homo sapiens originating in Africa and migrating outward about 80,000 years ago. However, some scientists say the teeth likely belong to a relative of Homo sapiens, such as the Neanderthals.
