Apple settled its trademark lawsuit in Chinese provincial court Monday, paying $60 million for the legal rights to the iPad trademark in China. Shenzhen company Proview Technology filed a trademark infringement case against Apple when the iPad was immediately successful, claiming that Apple’s transaction with Proview’s Taiwanese affiliate did not include use of the trademark in China. Greater China, which includes Hong Kong and Taiwan, is the second-largest market for Apple products after the U.S.
