It was a big night for the crowd-pleasing and the critically acclaimed alike at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, hosted Sunday night by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Ben Affleck's war thriller Argo took the prize for Best Motion Picture Drama, and Affleck also won Best Director. Les Miserables had a similarly successful night: the Tom Hooper-directed adaptation of the beloved musical won Best Comedy or Musical, and its stars, Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman, took best acting honors. Other notable dramatic film awards were Daniel Day-Lewis, for best actor in Lincoln, and Jessica Chastain, for best actress in Zero Dark Thirty. On the television side, Lena Dunham's HBO hit Girls had a great night, winning Best TV Comedy series as Dunham won for Best Actress in a TV comedy. Showtime's Homeland won for best dramatic TV series, and star Damien Lewis won for best actor in a dramatic television role.
