All Hands --

After more than 40 years at the WSJ, I have decided to retire. My final column will be April 15, Tax Day. I leave with enormous respect and affection for the best team in journalism.

As a friend once said, it's not what you do but who you do it with. On that score, I am truly blessed. I will deeply miss all the warmth, camaraderie, wise counsel and group therapy. I will also miss working with terrific editors who consistently manage to make me look better in print each week than I had thought possible.

I plan to continue teaching and writing occasionally. I hope you will stay in touch. You can reach me through my WSJ address (xxx@xxx.com) or home (xxxxxx@xxxxx.com and xxxx@xxxx.com).

Highest regards and best wishes,

Tom
