Dumb and Dumber

In an Oscar-winning role, Christian Bale stars as Dicky Ecklund, the crackhead half brother of The Fighter’s underdog boxer Mickey Ward, played by Mark Wahlberg. Dicky, a fallen boxer whose shining moment came when he possibly tripped Sugar Ray Leonard, is a nightmare for Mickey. He persuades Mickey to fight a boxer 18 pounds heavier than he is in Atlantic City for a weak purse, runs a prostitution gambit where he poses as a cop and steals johns’ cars, and is eventually responsible for a group of rowdy police officers breaking Mickey’s hand in a skirmish. He does, however, dispense some sound boxing tips to his younger bro.
