Robert (Hugh Bonneville) and Cora’s youngest daughter Lady Sybil spent the first season shocking her family with her modern views on women’s issues, the rights of servants, liberal candidates, and avant garde silk trousers. It’s no surprise then, that in Season 2, Sybil has lent her strength to the war effort.
“She's very much a progressive character,” said co-star Dan Stevens. “She joins the [Royal Army Nursing Corps] and learns how to bake a cake and make a cup of tea as well… It seems trivial as it actually is sort of crazy that these girls didn't know how to make a cup of tea. I think it was a big step, not necessarily a step down: it was progress as far as Sybil was concerned, but for Cora, it's like, ‘God, things are changing fast around here.’”
