Funniest Hurricane Tweets

Despite severe damages along the East Coast, Hurricane Irene’s downgrade to a tropical storm caused many to take to Twitter with jokes about the “LetdownApocalypse.”

As soon as the much-hyped Hurricane Irene passed over New York with the force of a tropical storm, the Twitterverse exploded with Irene jokes. “HurricaneIreneShouldHaveTaken” became a local trending topic, people began checking into “LetdownApocalypse” on Foursquare, and the hurricane’s funny Twitter persona, @Irene, began self-deprecating.

Maybe Irene was part of the #VMAs Britney tribute? Came from the south, went a little batshit, & ultimately settled to a sedated pace.
