‘Sarah Palin: You Betcha!’

Nick Broomfield is on a mission to unveil the real Sarah Palin in this documentary, making its world premiere at Toronto. The documentary filmmaker ventured to Alaska in the dead of winter to interview Palin’s friends, family, and colleagues, but soon found out many people in her small town of Wasilla, Alaska are afraid to dish on the former hockey mom. According to Broomfield, who has previously covered Margaret Thatcher, Courtney Love and Heidi Fleiss in his documentaries, Palin’s evangelical community is the crystal meth capital of the state and has a church for every 80 people. In his description, he said Wasilla “makes Twin Peaks look like a walk in the park.” Unlike the fawning Palin documentary The Undefeated, You Betcha! is expected to be highly critical of the former vice presidential candidate.

Sarah Palin: You Betcha! premieres on Sunday, Sept. 11 at AMC 7 at 7:00 pm.
