Major League Baseball crowned a new Iron Man in 1995 when future Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. did the unthinkable and broke Lou Gehrig’s record of 2,130 consecutive games played. With President Bill Clinton sitting in the announcers’ booth, Ripken hit a dramatic home run during his record-breaking game. His streak ended in 1998 at 2,632 games.
