Record: 100

Athlete: Wilt Chamberlain

Teams: Philadelphia Warriors

Years: 1962

Wilt Chamberlain is renowned as one of the best point scorers in the history of professional basketball, and his scoring prowess was on full display one March evening in 1962 in Hershey, Pa., as he scorched the New York Knicks for 100 points, nearly 60 percent of his team’s total. The record remains the sport’s single-game pinnacle performance. Kobe Bryant moved up to second place with an 81-point game in 2006.
