Even as Christie insists he won’t run, a chorus of conservatives—directed by Bill Kristol and Paul Gigot—are fanning the embers of hope. His speech at the Reagan Library on Tuesday didn’t help. Christie’s act of delivering the talk on the home field of the sainted Republican was auspicious. But when asked to run, he said, “It’s extraordinarily flattering but by the same token, that heartfelt message you gave me is not a reason for me to do it. That reason has to reside inside me.” What he didn’t say: I’m not running for president. Perhaps his mind has changed?
