What protest would be complete without some old-fashioned government-approved subversive infiltration? Thomas Ryan, who runs a computer-security firm, became Occupy Wall Street’s first official provocateur when he published thousands of emails from a protest list-serve affiliated with the hacking group Anonymous. Ryan also sent emails detailing protest sites and arrangements to the NYPD and the FBI in mid-September, as the Occupy Wall Street movement was getting under way.
