Baby Shaker somehow slipped through Apple’s rigorous screening process, only to be pulled from the app store less than three days later. The app featured a crying baby and prompted users to shake their phone until it calmed down—or died, signified by the two red X’s over the baby’s eyes. Parent groups were outraged, accusing the game of encouraging child abuse and making light of shaken-baby syndrome.
