STAR WARS EPISODE V: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980)
Harrison Ford’s final line in this 1980 sequel to Star Wars has spawned many rumors. Right before the captured Han Solo (Ford) is to be frozen in carbonite, his love interest, Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), says to him, “I love you.” One rumor has it that the script originally called for Han to reply, “I love you, too,” which Ford took issue with and decided to ad-lib on the spot. Another rumor has it that in the original script, Ford was supposed to reply, “Just remember that, Leia, because I’ll be back,” but Ford wasn’t entirely sure that he wanted to be back for a third film, so he changed the line. Either way, it’s known that Ford did improvise the line, and the rest is history.
