THE USUAL SUSPECTS (1995)

Before he won a best-supporting-actor Oscar for Traffic and starred as The Wolfman, Benicio Del Toro was a little-known actor with bit parts in Fearless and Swimming With Sharks on his résumé. Then came Bryan Singer’s 1995 film, The Usual Suspects. While the Oscar-winning screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie is a thing of beauty, the cast improvised much of the infamous lineup sequence. Most notable is Del Toro, who, when asked to repeat the robber’s line, replies, “Hand me the fucking keys, you cocksucker, what the fuck?” And like that, a star was born.
