Before Meghan McCain and Chelsea Clinton, NBC recruited George W. Bush’s daughter Jenna Bush Hager as a Today show correspondent. In 2009, the 27-year-old teacher had already written a book on a mother with HIV, and after a couple of successful appearances on the show Today’s executive producer decided she was a natural. Hager kept her job in a Baltimore school and was hired part time to cover education issues for Today.
