John F. Kennedy Jr. pursued a career in law before he decided to follow in his family’s political footsteps in a different way. Kennedy founded George, a magazine that focused on politics as a lifestyle, in 1995. George was the country’s largest-selling political magazine. But the success didn’t last long. The glossy started to lose money, sparking rumors that John Jr. would have to shut it down. George’s publisher tried to hold the magazine together after the death of its founder in a plane crash in 1999. But the magazine folded five years after its launch.
