Since Sept. 11, Paul has been associated with conspiracy theories implicating the U.S. government in the planning of the terrorist attacks. While he has denied being a “truther,” Paul has still been caught on the record making some undeniable incendiary comments about the government and 9/11. For example, earlier this month Paul told a group of young supporters in Iowa that the government’s first reaction to the terrorist attacks was “glee.” He said, “Just think of what happened after 9/11. Immediately before there was any assessment there was glee in the administration because now we can invade Iraq.”
