10 Outrageous Ron Paul Quotes
The Daily Beast collects some of Ron Paul’s strangest and most outrageous comments over the years.
Many listening to an Iowa radio interview with Paul back in May—including the show’s host Simon Conway—were taken aback to hear the presidential hopeful declare that he would not have ordered the killing of Osama bin Laden if he were president. “It was absolutely not necessary, and I think respect for the rule of law, international law—what if he’d been in a hotel in London? We wanted to keep it secret. Would we have sent the helicopters into London? Because they were afraid the information would get out. No you don’t want to do that,” he insisted. Instead, Paul argued, the U.S. should have worked with the Pakisitani government to arrest the al Qaeda leader and put him on trial, like “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman and Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, who still awaits trial in Guantánamo.
