Legendary FBI director J. Edgar Hoover and his assistant Clyde Tolson have long been rumored to have been lovers as well as partners, a theory which Clint Eastwood’s biopic J. Edgar wholly embraced. In one shocking scene, Hoover (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Tolson (Armie Hammer) come to blows over a disagreement. As they hurl punches at each other and fall to the ground, Tolson plants a surprise kiss on Hoover’s lips, leaving both Hoover and audiences stunned. Talking about the kiss to Entertainment Tonight Canada, Hammer said: “It wasn’t that weird—I have never kissed a guy. It’s not something I’m going to do in my private life but at the end of it, I was like, man, there is a lot of weird hype.”
