Screeching Toward the Cliff

Saturday afternoon at CPAC, Daniel Hannan, a member of the European Parliament, noted in his speech how Europe was slouching toward statist overreach and that America was not far behind:
We are screeching toward the cliff, and a couple of us…are trying to jam the brakes on while there’s still time. And we look up into the rear-view mirror, and what do we see? We see you! Trying to overtake us!
As a Euroskeptic Brit, his speech was particularly popular among conservatives gathered at CPAC because it was a confirmation of their own right-wing echo chamber. America really is becoming Europe! Even a European says so!

Reunited After A Massacre
Grab the tissue box. After a father and son were separated by a massacre in a Guatemalan village almost 30 years ago, an investigate report brings them back together. A joint story by 'This American Life,' 'ProPublica,' and the Mexican investigative outfit Fundación MEPI revealed that they had both survived, prompting father Tranquilino Castañeda to board his first plane, head for Newark, and reunite with his son and the grandchildren he never knew he had.
