HRH Gooseberry: Prince Harry is the third wheel in Kate and William’s marriage, reports the Daily Mail. The closeness of the royal trio has become something of a talking point in recent weeks, after a series of photographs showed them joined at the hip, whispering and giggling everywhere from the balcony at Buckingham Palace during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee to the Olympic equestrian arena in Greenwich.
The Times this week labelled Harry a ‘royal gooseberry’ and likened him to Owen Wilson’s character in the hit film You, Me And Dupree, in which Wilson’s best man character stays on as a houseguest with newlyweds Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson, much to the couple’s annoyance.
William and Harry Play polo: The Royal brothers took a break from the Olympics on Sunday to play polo. They competed for the Jerudong Trophy at Cirencester Park Polo Club.
The royal brothers mounted their trusty steeds as they took part in the annual polo match. At the completion of the game, both brothers greeted guests and accepted their awards.
All media: Kate Middleton and Prince William were on hand this weekend to witness history at the 2012 Olympics. The Royals were among the 80,000 screaming fans who watched Team GB write history winning an impressive six gold medals in the span of just a few hours on Saturday.
The Telegraph: William, Harry and Kate have attended up to four Olympic events a day while also meeting with foreign dignitaries and international business figures, part of a dedicated push to “sell” the UK to the world during and beyond the Olympic Games.
A royal aide said: “The Duke and Duchess and Prince Harry have been throwing themselves into the Olympics with gusto as they recognise that the Games provides a unique moment for the country to sell itself and they recognise they are in a unique position to represent the nation to our friends and partners around the world.”
