Kate Middleton Recycles A Diane Von Furstenberg Coat; Kristen Stewart Explains Her Converse Sneakers

And Karl Lagerfeld draws President Obama (as a chef.)

Kate Middleton's Repeat Alert: The Duchess recycled a black Diane von Furstenberg coat to yesterday’s Remembrance Day ceremony, the same one she wore to last year’s event. [Elle UK

Kristen Stewart Explains Her Sneakers: Kristen Stewart has explained why she wears Converse sneakers on the red carpet—she says it's for the fans. The Twilight star says that wearing flats helps her sign many more autographs when she attends premieres, and that many actresses are “more concerned about looking pretty in your heels, and so you’re walking slowly down the line. Put a pair of sneakers on.” [Sunday Times]

Loewe Taps Penelope Cruz: Spanish luxury brand Loewe has announced Penelope Cruz as its newest celebrity face. Cruz has signed a three-year contract with the label, though there’s no word on how much she was paid for the deal. Creative director Stuart Vevers, who joined Loewe in 2007 after serving as the creative director of Mulberry, told WWD of the move, “Penelope is Spain’s most famous woman. For us to collaborate feels right and natural.” Cruz’s advertisements will be photographed by famed duo Mert & Marcus, and will begin appearing in spring 2013 magazine issues—though sadly, they won’t run in the US. Lagerfeld Draws Obama: Karl Lagerfeld can now add ‘political cartoonist’ to his long list of career achievements. Sure, he’s a talented illustrator, but Lagerfeld upped the ante following last week’s US presidential election by drawing an election-themed cartoon for German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Lagerfeld says he woke up at 6 on Wednesday morning to draw the cartoon. When asked why he didn’t draw it in advance, Lagerfeld replied, “I couldn’t do it before; I’m superstitious.” And how did he decide to portray the evening’s winner? Rather than outfitting Obama in classic Chanel tweed, Lagerfeld sketched him in a chef’s uniform, holding a cake that’s shaped like the White House. The drawing, which he colored with Shu Uemera makeup, is titled “The Biggest Chef in the world: 10x5 Stars.” [Grazia UK]
