Peak Canada

Toronto: the Dubai of the Great Lakes?

I'm in Toronto today, having spoken this morning at the annual Real Estate Forum. The real estate market in Toronto is booming. Almost 150 cranes are at work building new glass condo towers. Some worry: could the market be over-heating? Are we reaching what's been called "peak Canada"? I hope not. But then comes this, courtesy of novelist Stephen Marche, a reminder of what a market top looks like. It's disconcerting to see my once Calvinist home town rebrand itself as the Dubai of the Great Lakes.

It certainly will be a holiday to remember with the Hazelton Hotel’s Bespoke $199,000 Holiday Season Package. This very special package includes: private jet transportation from your home to Toronto; two nights’ accommodations in the Hazelton’s Bellair Suite (which includes a Haastens bed); all meals catered in your suite’s private dining room by ONE Restaurant; a luxury sedan with driver at your disposal; additional amenities during your stay and three separate shopping trips:

For Him: A private shopping experience at Louis Black, Toronto’s most exclusive watch store, located in the lobby of The Hazelton Hotel. Here he’ll have the opportunity to choose one of the world’s top watches, with the help of Louis Black himself. He may just decide to take home the new $135,000 ‘Black Kite’ by Richard Mille. For Her: A luxury shopping experience at the city’s top boutiques. She’ll have a stylist at her disposal for an afternoon of shopping in the Yorkville area, the most exclusive shopping district in the country. The stylist will help make her shopping wishes a reality and will assist in finding items she won’t find anywhere else.

For Both: The Hazelton’s Art Concierge will take them on a personally escorted tour of Toronto’s finest art galleries. The Art Concierge will discuss their personal tastes in advance and select those galleries that best reflect their wishes. Depending upon the galleries selected and the dates, opportunities to meet the artists will be arranged.

This Bespoke Holiday Season Shopping Package starts at $199,000 plus tax, and is based upon factors such as watch selection, Louis Black shopping, potential art purchases and origin city. The Hazelton is happy arrange the packaging and shipment of purchased holiday gifts anywhere in the world.
