Since the Newtown shooting a month ago, the Brady Campaign, a strong force in gun control, has raised $5 million.
The campaign has pushed a platform that includes strengthening background checks, improving the ability to identify dangerous people, especially among the mentally ill and eliminating legal loopholes that they believe unfairly protect dangerous practices that contribute to gun violence.
