McQueen Cancels Fall Show: Alexander McQueen is skipping its fall fashion show this season in favor of a small, exclusive presentation. Why you ask? Sarah Burton, the brand’s creative director currently has something in common with one of her more famous patrons, Kate Middleton. She’s pregnant! Jean Paul Gaultier’s Strip Tease: Jean Paul Gaultier took a little inspiration from Amsterdam’s infamous Red Light District when staging his menswear show yesterday in Paris. The enfant terrible as he’s been coined by fashion fans had his models emerge from a pink-lit booths (complete with a plexiglass doorway)—each one stripping off their clothes off as they progressed down the runway. Luxury Retail Pop-Ups in DC for Inauguration: Luxury retail stores are popping up in high-end hotels throughout Washington DC in advance of President Obama’s second term inauguration. Stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Montblanc, and Neiman Marcus have opened temporary locations inside of DC’s renowned hotels to offer heightened services to those in town for the festivities. The Ritz Carlton’s Northwest location is playing host to Saks, and is offering complimentary makeup appointments from Dior and Chanel cosmetics.
