Major Underwear Companies Fight Over 'Mad Men' Star Jon Hamm's Goods
Move over, Michael Fassbender.
This year the public, it seems, can’t get enough of Jon Hamm’s junk.
After an insider at AMC—the network that airs his hit show Mad Men—reportedly spoke to the New York Daily News, telling the paper that the “well-endowed” actor, who has been known to go “commando,” was instructed to wear underwear while filming select scenes of the period drama due to the era’s snug trousers and shorts, two major underwear companies are allegedly duking it out over who will be able to provide said undergarments.
Fruit of the Loom and Jockey both reached out to Hamm after the initial reports surfaced, offering the star “free underwear for life,” according to TMZ.
“Jockey would like to offer our support for Jon Hamm in the form of a lifetime supply of Jockey underwear,” a rep for Jockey told the website, while Fruit of the Loom said, “We want people to be themselves. And if going Commando makes you happy, we say go for it. But in case you change your mind, we got you covered.”
The initial Daily News report claimed Hamm’s endowment was so prominent it forced the show’s marketing team to Photoshop everything from billboards to promotional posters for Mad Men.
“This season takes place in the 1960s, where the pants are very tight and leave little to the imagination,” the AMC source told the paper. “Jon’s impressive anatomy is so distracting that they politely insisted on underwear.”
Mad Men’s sixth season will premiere on AMC on April 7, and Hamm will grace the upcoming cover of Rolling Stone magazine that hits stands on Friday, March 29, with the headline, “Don Draper Exposed.”
