Kenneth Cole's Syria Tweet Sparks Controversy: Designer Kenneth Cole is never shy about adding to the political conversation with a fashion quip: two years ago he was slammed for an insensitive tweet about Egypt. And on Thursday, he tweeted: "'Boots on the ground' or not, let's not forget about sandals, pumps and loafers. #Footwear." With many finding his comment insensitive—CNN reported that Cole's Twitter followers replied with comments including "Mocking war to sell fashion? Really?"—he took to Instagram video to explain himself. “I've always used my platform to provoke dialogue about important issues including HIV/AIDS, war, and homelessness," he said. [NY Mag]
