Intel Announces Fashion Venture; Jay Z's Barneys Collaboration Raised Over $1 Million

And Lena Dunham may cover the February issue of Vogue.

Intel Taps Fashion Industry: Monday evening, Intel Corp. announced a wearable technology collaboration with major fashion industry leaders, including the CFDA, Barneys New York, and Opening Ceremony. Opening Ceremony will design a smart bracelet with Intel (exact design details and a launch date are still unknown) that will be available at Barneys, while the CFDA will work with Intel to develop new products. "Wearables are an area that we are pursuing," said Ayse Ildeniz, Intel's vice president of business development and strategy. "Most of it comes from technology companies, and we see these as very personal things. We thought the fashion industry should be in the driver's seat." [WWD]

Jay Z's Barneys Collaboration Raised Over $1 Million: Despite the controversy surrounding two racial profiling incidents at Barneys over the holiday season and Jay Z's collaboration with the store, the collection has reportedly raised over $1 million dollars for the rapper's namesake charity, The Shawn Carter Foundation. Although exact numbers will not be finalized until Friday (the last day of sales), a source close to Barneys told the NY Daily News that the profits have already exceeded $1 million. One-hundred percent of the profits from Jay Z's collaboration line, as well as 10 percent of Barneys sales on the release date of the collection, are donated to the charity. [NY Daily News]

Lena Dunham May Cover February Issue of Vogue: After much speculation, the Daily Mail reports that Lena Dunham has officially scored the February cover of Vogue, available January 22. Rumors of a Dunham cover emerged in October, when the actress/writer/producer was seen spending time with Anna Wintour at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event in Los Angeles. On Monday night, the two seemed to still be close as Wintour attended the season three premiere of Girls in NYC. A Vogue representative was unable to comment on the rumors. [Daily Mail]
