Fringe Factor: The Common Core Will Turn Your Kids as Gay as Possible
Common Core Will Turn Your Kids as Gay as Possible
“I hate to bring you that news, but you need to know,” Florida State Rep. Charles Van Zant said after telling the crowd at the Operation Education Conference in Orlando back in March that the highly controversial Common Core education standards are a plot by government officials to “attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can.” Van Zant was echoing a growing sentiment of paranoia and fear sparked by the optional public education standards program. Officials implementing the standards in Florida are “promoting as hard as they can any youth that’s interested in the LGBT agenda,” Van Zant was filmed saying at the anti-Common Core event.
Principal Apologizes for Putting Ellen on School Dance Invitations
St. Andrew Elementary School Principal Nancy Matteo was “not thinking” when she put a photograph of Ellen Degeneres on an invitation for an eighth grade graduation dance at her suburban Philadelphia Catholic School. Clearly! Nevermind the fact that Degeneres has hosted the Academy Awards twice and the graduation dance is Oscar-themed, Degeneres is a lesbian. And that “lifestyle” does not jive with the Catholic Church. In response to backlash from parents, Matteo sent out an email apologizing for using the photo, saying it was “completely wrong” to use a photo of the comedian, calling her a “poor role model” and insisting she have “every single invitation returned and I will personally destroy them.” Too late, Matteo. Too late.
Arizona GOP Candidate: Democrats to Blame for Gun ‘Fiascos’
At a Republican primary debate this weekend, Arizona congressional candidate Gary Kiehne proudly declared himself the owner of more guns than any other candidate in the race and blamed “99 percent” of all gun-related “fiascos” on Democrats. “It’s totally ridiculous if you look at all the fiascos that have occurred, 99 percent of them have been by Democrats pulling their guns out and shooting people,” Kiehne said of mass shootings, not offering specific examples of Democratic killers. “So I don’t think you have a problem with Republicans.” When asked how he would protect gun rights, Kiehne referred to his own arsenal and suggested that anyone who doesn’t already have a gun has “got to buy one.”
Obamacare Is Slavery
Last year, conservatives’ favorite retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson said the Affordable Care Act was “the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery.” This weekend, Carson defended this comparison on NBC’s Meet the Press. “First of all, recognize what I said,” Carson stipulated. “Worst thing since slavery. I didn’t say it was slavery.” When host David Gregory interrupted to note that Carson also said that “it is slavery in a way,” the Doctor agreed. “In a way, anything is slavery that robs you of your ability to control your own life.”
Only Property Owners Should Vote
A video unearthed by Right Wing Watch Tuesday reveals that Florida Rep. Ted Yoho advocated to limit voting rights to property owners during his 2012 Congressional campaign. “I’ve had some radical ideas about voting and it’s probably not a good time to tell them, but you used to have to be a property owner to vote,” Yoho is heard on the video saying to a round of applause from the crowd at a Berean, Florida church.
