Forget Jay and Beyoncé, Kim and Kanye, or Taylor and Tom/Calvin/Harry.
The newest reported celebrity couple on the block are true rock ’n’ roll royalty—the Welsh singer Sir Tom Jones, 76, and Priscilla Presley, the 71-year-old former wife of Elvis.
Sir Tom’s wife Linda died last year of cancer, and, according to British newspaper The Sun, he has struck up a romantic relationship with his old friend Priscilla in the intervening months.
The Sun quotes a source as saying: “Tom and Priscilla are courting. There is a spark between them but they are taking it slowly. It really is early days but they get on so well.”
Tom told The Sun, when questioned about the relationship: “We have been friends for a long time. She’s a lovely lady. We do enjoy our nights out together.”
The 71-year-old actress was married to the King of Rock and Roll from 1967 to 1973. They had one daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who was Elvis’s sole heir, and once married Michael Jackson.
Sir Tom wed his wife and childhood sweetheart Linda in 1957 when they were both 16 and they remained married until her death in April last year.
Presley, a committed Scientologist, met Elvis in 1959 when she was just 14 and Elvis was 24.
She moved into Graceland in 1963 and they married in 1967 in Las Vegas. They reportedly both had affairs—but stayed friends after they divorced in 1973.
Priscilla is said to have masterminded the transformation of Graceland into a top tourist attraction after Elvis’s death in 1977. She also acted in Dallas and the Naked Gun spoof comedy franchise.
Elvis and Tom were friends and Priscilla and Tom have been pals for many years.
