The irony of President Donald Trump declaring April 2017 Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month was not lost on Trevor Noah.
“Aw, thanks, President Trump,” The Daily Show host said Monday night. “You know how Trump can celebrate? By calling out his propaganda partner Bill O’Reilly at Fox News.”
Yes, just as the month of April is beginning, Fox News’s biggest star is finding himself once again embroiled in ever-expanding sexual harassment allegations, causing at least one major advertiser to drop his show this week.
“But this is a decision we can all get behind,” Noah added, noting that Trump is “finally following presidential tradition” because President Obama was the first one to give the month of April this designation a year earlier. “And now, Trump is following suit, which is super rare,” he said.
“Could this be the pivot, people? The elusive presidential pivot?” Noah asked. “Because anything Obama liked, Trump has discarded,” he said, citing the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and throwing the first pitch out on baseball’s opening day.
But when someone asked if Trump wanted to be part of “Sexual Assault Month,” Noah imagined him saying, “I’m in, I’m in! When do I start?”
