Ellie Quinlan Houghtaling is a Brooklyn-based labor reporter who has tried every shade of pink hair dye. Before joining The Beast as a breaking news intern, she was a '22 Toni Stabile fellow for investigative reporting at Columbia Journalism School. Her beats have ranged from egg donation to public housing and climate change, and her words have appeared in The Guardian, Gothamist, WNYC, WNET, Mashable and others. She is the recipient of the Richard J. Blood Award for Excellence in Reporting and was nominated for a 2022 National Magazine Award.
