Eunice Lipton grew up fascinated by her charismatic Uncle Dave, who died in the Spanish Civil War. That fascination turned to fury when she found out how her father had wronged him.
Eunice Lipton is an art historian and memoirist who lives in Paris and New York. She’s written for Hyperallergic, Art in America, Artforum, The Nation, The New York Times and The Guardian. Lipton is best known for the now classic Alias Olympia: A Woman's Search for Manet's Notorious Model and Her Own Desire. Her new book, A Distant Heartbeat: A War, A Disappearance and a Family’s Secrets will appear in April of this year.
